Bear Pond Artisan Tomato-Basil Pesto Sauce

The Lady loves LinkedIn, another social media site geared toward making business contacts and relationships. A lot of our Cheese Swell Friends are also members of the site. Recently, Cheryl Sullivan from Bear Pond Farm contacted The Lady and offered to send us some pesto sauces made at the farm. We love pesto and were thrilled to be asked. As with all samples, The Lady explained that sending them was no obligation to endorse them. Our philosophy (as explained on our About Me page is we will accept samples; however if we don’t like them, we don’t mention them… after all, we are here to celebrate cheese… not to bring it down.

And because I am now speaking about Bear Pond Farm Pesto Sauces… it doesn’t take a brain surgeon (or sturgeon) to figure out, these sauces are winners.

Cheryl sent us seven varieties, which all arrive frozen. The ability to freeze these is a big plus… as much as we love to eat around the manse… well, it’s gonna take awhile to try them all… so keeping them frozen is a major plus…

Before The Lady left for Houston… The Man is moping around the manse since she left, as am I… she fixed a pasta dinner and used the Bear Pond Tomato-Basil Pesto.

As you know, as a loyal reader, chicken is the protein of choice around the manse… but only if it comes from Foster Farms… no impostors around the manse… The Lady salted and peppered the skinless-boneless thighs and then sprinkled them with dried herbs from the garden of The Man… she sauteed the thighs in California’s Arbequina EVOO and with the prepared pasta, tossed the chicken in the Tomato-Basil Pesto.

The pesto sauce is creamy and rich and the flavors are complex that linger and satisfy. The sauce is made with Canola Oil, EVOO, Pecorino Romano, fresh-dried tomatoes and organic herbs and spices. No nuts and gluten-free.

In addition to using this pesto with pasta or to make a rich risotto, you can use this also as a dip for your fresh, raw crudites… another favorite around the manse.

We promised The Lady we would wait until she returns from Houston to try the other pesto offerings from Bear Pond, but The Man and I daily open the freezer door and look longingly at the Pepperoni-Flavored Pesto… wondering if The Lady would miss it when she returns…

I give the Bear Pond Tomato-Basil Pesto 3 Paws out of 4 Paws (cause that’s all I’ve got).

Serving Suggestions: As a sauce for pasta, chicken, fish and risotto… you’ll never go wrong. Also for dipping your favorite fresh veggies, what a great treat while watching The X Factor.

FTC Full Disclosure – The cheesemaker/manufacturer sent me their product, hoping I would review the product/cheese.
