Palmetto Cheese Spreads

As you know, The Lady and I are on a life-long journey to find the perfect pimento cheese and along the way we have found (and she has made) some fine ones that belong in the Pimento Cheese Hall of Fame. We have found yet another…

The Eastern and Southern US Murray’s Cheese Shops are now carrying two fine pimento cheese spreads made in South Carolina: Palmetto Cheese Spread: “The Pimento Cheese With Soul”.

When The Lady is setting up a new Murray’s that carries Palmetto Spread, you can bet that at least one night she’s too tired to eat out… so she buys Palmetto Spread and eats in the room.

Her last trip to Houston, she brought home the two flavors and I got my first tastings of these babies… yummers… although the jalapeno didn’t really agree with my delicate feline digestion… just kidding, The Lady refused to let me try the spicier variety… always trying to save me from myself… gotta love her…

The original Palmetto Spread is chunky with just enough mayo to hold it together without overpowering the cheesy goodness of the spread. This is the one that she shared with me… good thing she let me go first… as soon as The Man got his hands on the spread… gone… his momma really should have discussed the fine art of sharing with him… it’s embarrassing… and the swooning… Cheese Louise…

The Spicier version has Jalapeno added and according to The Lady, it is also sublime… The Man isn’t into spicy… so at least The Lady got her fair share…

I give Palmetto Spreads 4 Paws out of 4 Paws (cause that’s all I’ve got).

According to their website, Palmetto Spread also comes in a Bacon flavor… The Man put this flavor on his Christmas Wish List… sheesh…

Serving Suggestions: On bread, on crackers, straight out of the container…

Wine Pairing: A red blend that’s not too hearty. Or Pinot Grigio… The Lady’s current vino du jour…

Beer Pairing: A nice IPA

Source: Made with a sharp cheddar… made from pasteurized cow’s milk
