McClure’s Bloody Mary Mix

mcclures bloody 1Super Bowl Sunday is always fun here at The Manse.

The Lady and The Man enjoy the day, watching the game and laughing at the commercials… except the Clydesdale one which always brings a tear to The Lady’s eye… contrary to some of the humors afloat out there… The Lady does have a soft spot located somewhere in her heart… I have no trouble locating it… neither does The Man… most others need a road map… just saying…

Plus The Lady always creates a special Super Bowl Cheese Board for The Man and Moi, your not-so-humble Feline Foodie.

This year, The Lady added Bloody Mary’s to the gala; a virgin for herself and for The Man, a not-so virgin… using McClure’s Bloody Mary Mix

McClure’s Pickles is a multi-generational Michigan family that has been making pickles “professionally” since 2006 using their great grandmother’s secret recipe that was passed down to Jennifer, mother of the two guys running the company.

The company is big on using locally sourced materials to make their tasty pickles. The Man has been known to devour an entire jar in a single sitting… it’s a good thing that those of us of the feline persuasion don’t care for pickles… otherwise I might be reporting on the great McClure’s Pickle War of 2012… The Man seriously needs to come to terms with the concept of sharing… but I digress…

Where was I???

Making their tasty pickles from cucumbers, spices and herbs created a lot of extra brine… In an epiphanical (is there such a word?) moment one of the McClure’s realized all that extra brine would make a perfect base for a Bloody Mary Mix… God bless epiphanies…

Relying on The Lady and The Man, since I’m not that into veggie-based foodstuffs…

The first taste is like a tomato and a pickle colliding in your mouth and exploding on your palate… spicy without an abundance of heat… this stuff is serious Bloody Mary Mix… there should be a “not for pussies” warning required by the Surgeon General on the side of every jar…

It’s safe to assume that the fridge at The Manse will be stocked with McClure’s Pickles and Bloody Mary Mix every time a Cheese Board kind of holiday rolls around…

The Man had the nerve to ask if he could keep back stock in my cheese fridge… nope… not gonna happen… I’m not that much into sharing either…
