Food by Bob… Yummy Pairings

As mentioned in the previous posting, my good friend and Cheesemonger Bob Wedemeyer recently blessed me with a large bag of his handmade jams, preserves, chutneys, marmalades and a jar of bread and butter pickles… all items that pair well with our favorite food “group” known as cheese.

In addition to being a fabulous Cheesemonger by day, Bob caters and dabbles in baking, cooking and developing recipes by night… his website That’s What Bob Is Cooking is a cornucopia of fabulous foods he loves to make.

About ten years ago, Bob and his partner, Craig, joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Farm and attended one of its events about pickle making. Bob was inspired by the simplicity of canning and although not a fan of jams and jellies, he came to appreciate the short season of fruits and vegetables and how canning “extended” the season. Over time, as they “urban foraged” at local farmers’ markets, Bob and Craig found fruits and vegetables to preserve by canning. Currently, these tasty creations are not available to purchase, but occasionally, Bob will work one or two into the menu of one of his catering events… or, if you’re lucky (as I was), he’ll present you with a bag of his goodies… (BTW, I’m almost out of the Fig Spread, Bob, but you shouldn’t interpret this as a hint for another, larger jar… I’m willing to pay…)

Editor’s Apology: I have been on the road since early February preaching the gospel of cheese all across the country and have not had the time or energy to update this website as often as I like… Thanks for reading.
