Last week, the Facebook Cheese Study Group released its Cheese Study Group Schedule that uses the ACS Body of Knowledge as the backbone. On March 1st, The Study Group begins its “Cheese of the Day”, showcasing a different cheese everyday. An important part of the ACS CCP Exam® is your knowledge of categories of cheese and specific cheeses. The exam questions may not directly ask you about specifics of certain cheeses, but you may be asked to pair a cheese with a specific wine or to create a local cheese plate. If you don’t know the specifics, these questions might “stump” you.
As many of you know, I have created several databases to help you learn specifics of certain cheeses. These databases include 281 Cheeses You Should Know, 165 More Cheeses to Know, The Eight Basic Families of Cheese and my most recent database categorizes many of James Beard Award-Winning Writer Janet Fletcher’s Cheese Reviews and articles.
Sundays: Discussion of Blue Cheeses led by ACS CCP® Sheri Allen of Artisanal Touch LLC.
Tuesdays: Discussion of Hard Cheeses with emphasis on Italian Cheeses and Italian-Style Cheeses led by ACS CCP® Allin Tallmadge.
Wednesdays: Discussions of Goat and Sheep Cheeses led by ACS CCP® Elizabeth Nerud.
Thursdays: Washed Rind Cheeses led by ACS CCP® Erin Clancy.
ACS CCPs® Jill Davis, Logan Class and Adam Burstein will be contributing throughout the Cheese of the Day presentations.
The Cheese Study Group is also sponsoring scholarships to send one worthy ACS CCP Exam® candidate to take the exam and one worthy ACS CCP® to attend the 2017 ACS Conference in Denver, Cheese With Altitude. You can join us in this endeavor by donating to our GoFundMe Campaign. If you wish to apply for one of these scholarships, click here for details.
The Cheese Study Group and Scholarship Fund are not endorsed by nor affiliated with the American Cheese Society or Facebook.
