Bee our Valentine with Cheese, Wine, Mead, Honey and Chocolate tasting at Blue Haven

On Saturday, February 10th, I’ll be co-hosting a Valentine’s Day Tasting of Cheese, Wine, Mead, Honey and Chocolate Pairings with Blue Haven Bee Company. We’ll be pairing five cheeses plus a special Baked Brie Bite with Southern Origin Mead, Northeast Georgia wines and finish with a split of Italian Prosecco for each guest. The plate will include salami, local pecans roasted with Blue Haven Wildflower Honey, specialty chocolate and Kelly’s Jelly Blueberry Lemon Preserves. The cost per person is $40 and includes a Sweet Treat Favor Bag.

Included in the tasting will be the history and story of each cheese and its producers. You’ll learn why the EU protects the production of two of the cheeses we are sharing and how Vermont’s Cabot Creamery Cooperative is holding its own against the cheeses of Europe.

Our pairings for the evening will include:

Norway’s Jarlsberg, the Number 1 selling Specialty Cheese in the US, with a NE Georgia Chardonnay.

Cheese, Mead and Wine Tasting Blue Haven Bee Company

France’s Comte , hand selected by Herve Mons* ,paired with Southern Origin’s Wildflower Honey Mead.

3 Year Cabot Cheddar paired with Southern Origin Pollinator Pyment.

Italy’s Parmigiano Reggiano, arguably the King of Cheeses, paired with a tasting of Sangiovese.

England’s Cranberry Wensleydale paired with a Moscato d’Asti.

and ending the evening with a Baked Brie and Blue Haven Gallberry Honey bite paired with a full split of Prosecco.

We will be mixing in some Paper Shell Pecans picked locally in Canon which I’ll be roasting with Blue Haven Wildflower Honey, Columbus Dry Salami slices, specialty chocolates and Blueberry Lemon Preserves from Oregon’s Kelly’s Jelly.

All of the Meads and Wines can be purchased at Blue Haven and the cheeses are available locally at Ingles in Hartwell or Whole Foods in Greenville and Atlanta.

After the event, stay and enjoy the Blue Haven Wine Bar and pick-up those last-minute Christmas gifts of honey, lotions and Andrew Brown’s handmade pottery.
