I am currently the Tri-State Regional Sales Manager for Grafton Village Cheese. No two days are the same, but for the most part my time is split between visiting current and potential accounts in the NYC-area (NY/CT/NJ/PA) and doing strategic sales and marketing planning and follow-up. I’m one of a team of Grafton Village Cheese sales managers around the country, and we all work together and with the operations team in Vermont on our shared goals.
Previously I worked at Arethusa Farm Dairy, handling sales and marketing for them, with a focus on the NYC market. No two days were the same, but for the most part my time was spent visiting current and potential accounts in the city (retailers, wholesalers, and other food businesses), going up to the farm to conduct sensory analysis with the cheesemaking team, and working on strategic planning with the owners of the dairy.
I came to cheese in a thoughtful way in 2004, when I first moved back to NYC after college. I didn’t know anyone in the city yet, so I didn’t have a lot of opportunities to socialize in that first year here. I often found myself visiting cheese shops, just as much to chat with the mongers and learn about cheese as to taste and enjoy it. It was something I really just gravitated to, and I quickly became a regular at a few shops around town.
** Le District – Lower Manhattan’s Brookfield Place will soon welcome an “Eataly-esque” food market called Le District. This French styled market place will include two full service restaurants, which have yet to be determined and will feature 10,000 square feet of outdoor dining space to enjoy the river views.
