Air Fryer Grilled Cheese… Who Knew???

A few months back I bought an Emeril Air Fryer, which looks more like a convection oven than a pressure cooker (Miss Anne was deadly afraid of pressure cookers and therefore, so am I). The Man and I use it everyday from toast to soups to chicken to pork loin to chocolate chip cookies. (I did not like the “fried” chicken… being a Southern Girl at heart, if it isn’t deep fried, it isn’t fried chicken… everything else has been a success.)

My friend and France traveling companion Karol, posted a picture of a grilled cheese she did in her air fryer and I admired the “finish”. My biggest disappointment with my grilled cheeses is burning the bread while waiting for the cheese to melt.

Grilled Cheese Tip: Let the cheese warm to room temperature after shredding and it will melt faster.

I found a wedge of Six-Month Mimolette in the fridge and had a half ham, which I sliced thinly and… ta da… Grilled ham and cheese in the air fryer.

Here’s what I did.

Preheat the air fryer on Bake at 325 degrees F.

Shred your cheese and slice your ham.

I used Pepperidge Farms Sourdough Bread which I buttered with Kerrygold Irish Butter. Placed the bread, butter side down on the tray. Layered starting with the shredded cheese, then ham and finish with cheese. Top with buttered side up of the bread.

Bake at 325 for 4 minutes. Flip and bake another 4 minutes. I wanted a little more browning on the bread and baked 2 more minutes.

Cut and serve. I served with chips and dill pickles…

The Man swooned…

The Man, aka Peter M. Wright, has written his first novel: Gold Fever, available at amazon.com as a kindle book for only $2.99.

Written in the flavor of one of our favorite movies, Romancing the StoneGold Fever is a romantic adventure that brings together an archeologist looking to establish his name in his field and a rock star on the verge of burn-out.

In GOLD FEVER  an Archeologist motivated by a newly discovered clue, searches for a fabled Native American Legend – the long ago lost Seven Golden Cities of Cibola. While the Archeologist seeks to prove the legend is actually true, he is constantly under attack by a second group seeking the treasure.
