Going Vegan…

Don’t panic… I haven’t lost my mind…

We live near a large Corps of Engineer lake in NE Georgia which brings many from the Atlanta area on the weekends and summer. Recently, a lake resident from the Atlanta area contacted me after finding my Facebook page. She and 9 friends were gathering for the weekend at her lake house  to celebrate 2 birthdays.

After some discussions, she ordered platters for the 10 of them to enjoy when they arrived. Because she was a vegan, she requested one vegan cheese be included… a first for me. I found a vegan feta produced by VioLife and included it on the platter that included nothing that came from an animal.

The vegan platter included hummus, celery, carrots, hot peppers, olives, dates, cornichons and walnuts.

The cheese and charcuterie platter included Barely Buzzed by BeeHive, Extra-Aged Ossau Iraty AOP, Mimolette, a trio of Spanish cheeses (Manchego, Iberico and an aged goat cheese) plus Olli Salamis, Danielle Salami and Boar’s Head Prosciutto.

Following the weekend, the ladies sent me a text that they were very happy with the platters…

I also want to add that while I believe that cheeses come from animals, cheesemongers must know their customer base and address their needs.

The Man, aka Peter M. Wright, has written his first novel: Gold Fever, available at amazon.com as a kindle book for only $2.99.

Written in the flavor of one of our favorite movies, Romancing the StoneGold Fever is a romantic adventure that brings together an archeologist looking to establish his name in his field and a rock star on the verge of burn-out.

In GOLD FEVER  an Archeologist motivated by a newly discovered clue, searches for a fabled Native American Legend – the long ago lost Seven Golden Cities of Cibola. While the Archeologist seeks to prove the legend is actually true, he is constantly under attack by a second group seeking the treasure.

The Man is currently writing a sequel to Gold Fever. Gold Fever and his non-fiction books are available through Amazon’s lending library.
