It’s 2022 and Time for Changes to Marcella The Cheesemonger

The last two years have been brutal for everyone, worldwide. The pandemic has erased “normal” from our lives and replaced it with “yet to be determined”. And with the changes in our everyday routines and habits, changes have also come for The Man and me… and I am going to funnel some of those changes into my website.

Most of us had to alter our lives and daily routines. In 2014, “9 to 5” left my daily routine, but I continued to “dabble” in the cheese world with events, this website and promoting food safety with my ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification.

I have never been a “girlfriend” kind of girl, finding I prefer the company of The Man to… well… pretty much everyone else except stray cats. Currently we have four adopted indoor/outdoor cats and a cast of wanderers that varies between five and six most days (BTW, I have trapped and fixed all but two). Since the “supply chain” went to hell during 2021, one of my biggest challenges has been finding wet cat food… something not on my bingo card of what could go wrong… I tried making cat food using ground turkey, chicken and beef but evidently I don’t understand the cat palate…

I continue to garden and that won’t changed. Each season I cull my choices in plants. 2022 I will continue my deck’s herb garden, concentrating on the herbs I use and eliminating ones that sound interesting but I rarely incorporate into my cooking. In the yard (only in pots) I’ll be concentrating on tomatoes (lots of tomatoes), peppers and onions. My citrus trees are now eight years old and not a scent of fruit (one bloom last year but no fruit).

Three things… well four (but one will rarely be incorporated into my postings) have become more prevalent in my day-to-day and I have decided to incorporate these into this website:

  • Reading and music, especially jazz. A preview of my favorite books can be purchased through my Amazon Influencer StoreFront.
  • Binge TV – both movies and series
  • Cooking, Developing Recipes and Baking – experimenting more and branching out more… as far as The Man’s specific tastes will allow. At the moment I am learning about yeast.
  • Online Poker (this is the one I will discuss rarely)

Cheese will remain my passion but I’ll be writing about other interests that amuse or annoy me… stay tuned… I don’t expect to set the culinary nor entertainment world on fire, but I plan to have fun…

My friend and Cheese Colleague, Babs Hogan aka The Healthy Cheese Lady has created her first “Cheesy” T-Shirt in a new line of clothing. The T-Shirt is only $20 and you can order it here. I will have a Q&A with Babs later this week for her launch. Everyone needs this T-Shirt because it’s true: “Cheese Makes Me Happy”.

In addition to being a member of the Internationale Guilde des Fromagers (Jura and Garde) and an American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Professional, I am a Certified ServSafe Food Production Manager with certifications that also include ServSafe Certified Instructor and Proctor. I am available for cheese events, cheese program development, cheese training, food safety training and 3rd party food safety auditing. See my About Me and Resume pages for more details or call me at 360 921 9908 to discuss availability.
