Beehive Cheeses Now Available at Sweet Combs of Honey

Barely Buzzed by Beehive Cheese

I have long been a fan of Utah’s Beehive Cheeses and its Co-Owner, Pat Ford – one of the truly “good guys” of cheese. Back before the pandemic, I ran into Pat, his wife and daughter at cheese events. This family members are some of cheeses’ biggest “cheerleaders”.

Now you can buy several versions of Beehive’s Promontory Cheddar at my cheese shop located in Downtown Lavonia’s Sweet Combs of Honey. Co-Owner, LaDonna Andrews, was thrilled when the first Beehive Cheeses arrived at the shop… after all SCOH started as beekeepers and then she and Lori happily fell down the rabbit hole of supporting local artists. You can also purchase Beehive at my Amazon Influencer storefront.

In 2005 Brothers-in-law, Pat and Tim Walsh, with eight days of cheesemaking experience between them, opened Beehive Cheese in the mountains of Northern Utah. Two years later they won their first award and solidified themselves in the Artisan Cheesemaking World.

Their base cheese is Promontory Cheddar, a rich and creamy cheese that melts on the palate. Beehive buys its milk from

Pour Me a Slice

Wadeland South, a fourth-generation family creamery located ten miles from Beehive. The Wade family herd consists of Holsteins and Jerseys creating a high butterfat milk.

Using Promontory, Beehive creates “finishes” to transform their Award-Winning Cheddar into several American Originals.

In my shop I carry Barely Buzzed, Promontory rubbed with espresso and lavender; Pour Me A Slice, Promontory infused with Basil Hayden’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey; and SeaHive, Promontory rubbed with Utah’s own ancient sea salt and local wildflower honey. All three are sweet and creamy, a result of the high butterfat content in the milk they use.

I also have Beehive’s Fresh Curds made from the same milk.

This Saturday, April 24th, you can sample SeaHive which LaDonna will be pairing with Hive and Honey Gewürztraminer Riesling (from 1 to 3pm). Join us for a sip and taste and take home both to share with friends or hoard for yourself. Your secret is safe with us…

The Man, aka Peter M. Wright, has written his first novel: Gold Fever, available at amazon.com as a kindle book for only $2.99.

Written in the flavor of one of our favorite movies, Romancing the StoneGold Fever is a romantic adventure that brings together an archeologist looking to establish his name in his field and a rock star on the verge of burn-out.

In GOLD FEVER  an Archeologist motivated by a newly discovered clue, searches for a fabled Native American Legend – the long ago lost Seven Golden Cities of Cibola. While the Archeologist seeks to prove the legend is actually true, he is constantly under attack by a second group seeking the treasure.
